How to press through gray zones

I love writing. I love the way words spill from my fingertips onto the pages. But there are those days when writing is a challenge and the words seem to get lost in a gray fog. Those are the days that can become frustrating to a writer.

What I have discovered is that if you just continue to write, regardless of what it may read like, you can push through those gray zones.

If that doesn’t seem to conquer the gray zone, then try to do things that stimulate the creative process. Watch some movies. Read a couple of books in the same genre you write. Take walks in the fresh air.

Even if some of these ideas don’t seem to work for you, keep writing. No doubt you will have to go back and do some chopping and weeding out of words and paragraphs, but at least you are moving forward and not remaining stagnant.

These are just a few encouraging words; things that have helped me when I have brain fog when my story comes to a dead-end.
