Keeping it Fresh
Writing is rewarding, but as in all things, it has its ups-and-downs. One of the many challenges about writing is keeping it fresh. Fresh ideas, exciting new characters, and an exhilarating new plot. Forget leaning on familiar techniques that worked before.
You know what I mean- you find a great story-line that works out great-it's a seller, so you set out to write yet another. Then you shudder to see an established pattern-only the characters and scenery have changed.
This can occur after writing multiple books in the same genre. My advice is, keep it fresh. Look for new angles... ways to breathe new life into your genre and see how it fairs. Old techniques are okay, but don't get stuck on them. Play with the plot, giving it unexpected twists and turns that will keep the reader wanting more.
